A summary of the presumptions behind law reform efforts in Africa (1960s and 70s) Asia (1990s) and Central Asia and Afghanistan (2000s). Both the champions and the critics got it wrong---and so did I

Our first meeting of the 25'-26 academic year, at 5:30 pm on Tuesday, November 11, will feature a presentation by club member Ted Parnell, Dean Emeritus of the UNM School of Law. Ted will discuss the work he and others have done in regards to law reform efforts in the developing world. Ted is an internationally renowned expert on this interesting and extremely complex topic that includes encouraging economic development within a variety of cultural and political norms by creating legal frameworks, insuring access to justice, and strengthening judicial systems – to name just a few.

Another announcement will be made in early October with more details regarding Ted’s talk and the social and dinner that follows. At that time an RSVP will be requested.
